At the risk of sounding like every other company ever, we want to help our users live their best possible lives. More specifically, we want to help people age well – optimally, even.

It’s why we’ve done things like collaborate with geriatric specialists in neurology, reheumatology and cognitive health. It’s why we’re always talking about the features older people want in a platform like ours, and it’s why we’ve done multiple pilot studies to find out.

So, when we were invited to lead a panel discussion during this year’s Optimal Aging Conference, we said, “Definitely. We love this stuff.”

We’ll be hosting a discussing on ageism as it relates to the digital experience. We know ageism is a very real phenomenon – especially in the digital world and online. For the discussion, we’ll be bringing in residents from local assisted living facilities to get some firsthand perspective on the topic.

The Optimal Aging Conference is hosted by the University of Louisville’s Institute for Sustainable Health & Optimal Aging, in partnership with the Kentucky Association for Gerontology. It’s held each year in Louisville, Kentucky, which is sort of the proverbial glue that holds the aging care industry together. If you don’t believe us, ask the Internet.

Anyway, the conference draws people from the worlds of academia, health care and social services, along with older adults, all united under the belief that aging is an opportunity. This year’s theme is “Approaching Aging as a Life-Long Journey.”

Conference sponsors are big-deal organizations and companies like AARP, Kindred Healthcare and others, so it’s legit plus. We’re excited to participate, but we’re also looking forward to hearing from the dynamic lineup of speakers…people like Sandy Markwood, CEO of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging, and Christopher Callahan, Director of Indiana University’s Center for Aging Research.

It’s a great opportunity for the SeniorGroup team to soak up knowledge from the experts and, hopefully, contribute some knowledge ourselves. Our discussion is set for June 12 from 10:15-11:45…check us out if you get a chance!
